The smartphone pricing was hiked due to hike in GST (Good & Service Tax). Today, Realme has confirmed that it is increasing the price of its smartphones as well.

In a recent announcement, the Government of India has decided to increase the GST on a smartphone from 12 % to 18% starting April 1, 2020, this increase in the GST rate will further impact the smartphone segment.

GST is not the only reason for the increasing price of smartphones. rupee depreciation and supply chain shortages due to the COVID-19 outbreak are also the key reasons for the price hike.
